Our family is passionate about two things: food and building community. So we believe there is no better way to bring people together
than with pizza!
However, the best times were always when Dad would cook using his wood fired oven. From bread and pizza to whole lamb that was so tender the meat would literally fall off the bone. Dad loved to host and enjoyed having everyone around, and Mum was a champion in making sure you never left hungry. It was never an issue to cook quality, authentic Italian food for 1 or 30. Now at the age of 86 years old, Mum loves helping out in the kitchen making nearly everything in the pizzas for you to enjoy today. I thank God for having the youth I had so that I can now share this same quality and authenticity in serving the southern Italian food at Sirone’s Pizza by the Metre.
I’m a strong believer that pizza is probably the most popular takeaway food across the board. The history of pizza stems from the bakers in Italy finishing off their last bits of dough with the toppings of their lunch. Fast forward to present day, I want my family and friends to enjoy the tradition of homemade wood fired pizzas the way I experienced it growing up. To be able to share it with everyone brings me so much joy.
When we built the pizza oven at home years ago, I remember making the first 1 metre pizza for my youngest son, Liam’s, birthday. I was trying to place this gigantic margarita pizza into the oven and all the bocconcini cheese balls rolled off onto the floor of the oven! Thankfully, our technique has improved since then! For me, I love to be able to provide a 1 metre pizza for a whole family to enjoy and not break the bank. Our dough is made fresh daily and the capsicums and sweet potatoes are roasted which gives them a unique flavour from our wood fired oven. We use local suppliers and are big supporters of putting Wyong on the map for good food.
As I say to everyone, “we look forward to feeding you soon”.
